The board and staff of the Renaissance Performing Arts Association are pleased to announce that the Fran and Warren Rupp Donor-Advised Fund of the Richland County Foundation has awarded them a matching grant of up to $100,000. The grant, which will extend until June 30, 2014, will provide a dollar-for-dollar match for every gift received toward Renaissance capital debt reduction.
In November 2012, the Renaissance launched the “Celebrating Success – Ensuring Success” Campaign with the aim of retiring $350,000 in capital debt. The debt is the result of unpaid pledges and additional costs to renovate and repair the historic building during the 2006-2010 building expansion. The Celebrating Success - Ensuring Success campaign also addresses necessary building maintenance items such as a decade-long roofing problem. At present, the Renaissance seeks an additional $130,000 toward debt reduction by June 30, 2014 to close the campaign.
The burden of the capital debt has restricted the growth and expansion of the many artistic and education programs of the Renaissance. Once this debt is retired, the Renaissance has plans in place to expand educational offerings, implement planned giving programs, and improve programming and educational offerings to better meet the needs of its patrons. No new debt has been incurred by the organization since Michael C. Miller was appointed as President and CEO in 2010.
