Crawford County Sheriff Investigating Hit Skip Accident Involving Bicyclist

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a bicyclist being struck on Stetzer Rd. near Stephanie Dr. in Liberty Township.

Fire and EMS were dispatched along with Deputies. Deputies found that Thomas Moon, 68, of Bucyrus, Ohio was riding his bike eastbound on Stetzer Rd. when he struck by an eastbound vehicle. The vehicle left the scene and was described as possibly being a small SUV or mini-van dark blue or black in color.

Moon was transported to Bucyrus Community Hospital and later transferred to Mansfield Med Central to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone that may have information about the accident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (419) 562-7906.

Mr. Moon is a long-time avid cyclist logging over 10,000 miles ridden in 2023. Friends of Mr. Moon have offered a money reward for any information that leads to the identification and conviction of parties involved in the incident.
